Literature & Databases
- Zobler World Soils Data Set
A global mapping of soil types by USGS using a number of interesting classification systems.- UnCover Literature Search Service
Search thousands of journals (on all subjects, that is) and they can provide a copy of the article you find (at some cost) - Works via telnet, so even a simple terminal emulator will do.
@ For inquiries: in N. America; or if you are elsewhere.- GEOBASE on CD-ROM: Earthdisc
A database of literature on Geology, Physical Geography and Oceanography. Published by
@ SUCCEED Geotechnical Engineering
NSF's SUCCEED Engineering Visual Database. This is a huge database of pictures - The Geotechnical engineering entry contains everything from a Vulcan Pile Driving Hammer to a Sinkhole in Florida!
@ For submissions: Alice Walker
- SGI-Line – Swedish Geotechnical Institute
SGI-Line is a database containing references to international geotechnical geoenvironmental literature in a broad context. The database is one of a small number in the world specialised in geotechnical and geoenvironmental engineering and produced by the Swedish Geotechnical Institute.
The SGI-Line contains some 70.000 references, most of them with abstracts and/or table of contents, and is annually expanded with about 2.000. Most references added in recent years links to further information, full-text documents or abstracts/table of contents.News and discussion groups
